Laura Mae Murcer

Laura Mae Murcer was born on July 12, 1923, in Jackson, Mississippi, and departed this life on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, in Chandler, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years. Laura, the daughter of Wilbon Keaton and Laura Beatrice (Strayhorn) Dowtin, was a long-time resident of Chandler. She married Lavon Murcer on August, 6, 1949, in Oklahoma City. Laura worked with Lavon at Murcers Jewelry Store in Chandler for many years. She was a member of the Chandler First Baptist Church. Her parents, husband, one son, and three sisters preceded Laura in death. Survivors include, one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Dick Evans of Chandler, one brother, Wilbon Dowton Jr. of Oklahoma City, six grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Expressions of sympathy may be made to an organization of your choice. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 11, 2011, at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
