L. D. Gatlin

L. D. Gatlin, age 78, of Newalla, OK, was born on July 18, 1928 in Hickory, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Lon & Ollie James Gatlin. He left this life on March 29, 2007 in Norman, OK. L. D. served in the U. S. Army in Korea. He worked at Fleming Foods for almost 20 years, where he was a shop supervisor. He enjoyed playing the guitar, the outdoors, boating and was an avid OU Football and OU Girl''s Basketball fan. His favorite hobby was helping other people. L. D. was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Lahoma South and Melva Essary; 2 grandchildren, Larry Joe Findley and Emma Grace McGuinness. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice ?Jerry? Gatlin, Newalla, OK; his son, Larry Gatlin, Oklahoma City, OK; 4 daughters & 2 sons-in-law, Vickie & Joe Findley, Newalla, OK, Linda & Joe Nolen, McLoud, OK, Debbie Higdon, Harrah, OK, Gina Gatlin, Newalla, OK; 1 brother, Pete Gatlin; 5 sisters, Johnnie Thomas, Sulphur, OK, Bill Hicks, Sulphur, OK, Brondell Nelson, Moore, OK, Othell Johnson, McLoud, OK, Lorey Coe, Hoquium, WA; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granchild numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, April 2, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Newalla, OK, with Rev. Griff Henderson and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery, Dale, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
