Keith Allen Knipp

July 1, 1946 — September 26, 2022

Keith Allen Knipp of Guthrie, OK passed away September 26, 2022 surrounded by family and friends in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Keith was born on July 1, 1946 in Alliance, Ohio to Jesse Dennis and Mary Jane Knipp. He grew up in South Oklahoma City and graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1964. He was married and divorced before signing up with the Marine Corps in 1968. This first marriage produced his first son, Jeff, who has preceded him in death.

Keith served the Marines from 1968 to 1970 and fought in the Vietnam War. After returning, he sought out his career as an electrician in the Oil and Gas industry, to which he carried throughout his life before retiring from Duke Energy on June 12, 1999.

It was well known by anyone that knew him, or had even heard his name in a conversation, that his biggest passions in life was bird hunting and training birddogs for hunting. Every minute of his free time was dedicated to some aspect of these activities and included family and friends in his hobbies.

Personality-wise, you either loved Keith or hated him and sometimes that choice wasn’t left to you to decide. He was very colorful and had many lasting expressions that no one could forget. Most importantly, he was able to take anything thrown at him and laugh about it (eventually).

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Mary Ann Knipp, son Jeff Knipp, grandsons Kolby Davis Knipp and Michael “Seth” Knipp and recently, his wife Paulette Knipp.

He is survived by his son Keith Elston, sons Kenny, Chris and T.J. Knipp, and all of their children and grandchildren.
