Katie Payne

Katie Payne, a long-time, Meeker, Oklahoma, resident, was born on November 4, 1913, in Nady, Arkansas and departed this life on December 3, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years. Katie was the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Nora Parrish Jackson. She married Haskell L. Payne in Perkins, Oklahoma on February 23, 1935. Katie and Haskell moved to the Meeker area many years ago, and were co-owners of the Meeker Variety Store. Her parents, husband, one brother, and one sister, preceded Katie in death. Survivors include one daughter, Marilee Nicely of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, T. A. Jackson of Gillette, Arkansas; two grandchildren; three special friends, Dr. Lila Nevrekar, Dipti and Priya; other relatives and many friends. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund in Meeker, Oklahoma Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 6, 2003, at the New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, Oklahoma, with Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler, OK.
