Katie Oneta (Mayfield) Brown

October 12, 1935 — November 17, 2010

Katie Oneta (Mayfield) Brown was born on October 12, 1935, in Micawber, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Frank and Maggie (Maynard) Mayfield. Katie married her childhood sweetheart, Morris Brown, on July 7, 1951. She was a member of the Lighthouse Holiness Church. Granny Katie loved beautiful flowers and in the summertime you could find her outside until dark, working in her garden and in the yard. She loved cooking for others and if you ever ate one of her fried pies, you know they were the best. She was the first to laugh at herself and others when something funny happened. She loved God, her family, and her church. Granny Katie was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Marissa Katie Mayfield on September 26, 2007; her parents; and three brothers, Harmon, Fred and Gene Mayfield. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Morris Brown of the home; children, Stanley and Naomi Brown of Prague, Glenda Mayfield of Prague, Wendell and Melanie Brown of Paden, David and Kathy Brown of Paden, Chris and Jana Cheatwood of Paden, Kent Brown of the home; grandchildren, Shane and Tammy Brown, Marty Mayfield, Dustin and Karie Brown, Ryan and Kristy Brown, Marla and Troy Lester, Brandon and Rachelle Brown, Bridgette and Alan Moore, Amanda and Theron Williams, Eric and Amber Brown, Melaina and Tim Roseberry, Kylie and Matthew Tappe, Misti and Darin Martin, Josh and Alisha Cheatwood, Tyler and Cheyenne Cheatwood, Kyle and Ashlee Cheatwood, Miranda Mayfield, Trevor Cheatwood and Tanner Cheatwood; 32 great-grandchildren, Meagan, Hayley, Landon and Natalie Brown; Abbie, Rilee and Skylar Mayfield; Dylan and Kynzee Brown; Shayla and Levi Brown; Tristan, Victoria and Nate Lester; Connor and Cayden Brown; Allie, Demi and Paris Moore; Drake, Emma, Ella and Dane Williams; Slater and Tylon Brown; Reagan and Audrey Cooper; Alyssa Tappe; Mandee Echols; Bryce Cheatwood; Brooklyn Cheatwood; Cade Cheatwood; and 3 great grandchildren on the way; brothers and sister-in-law,Ray Mayfield of Paden, Vester and Opal Mayfield of Paden, Harvey Mayfield of Prague; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and G.W. Coward of Sallisaw, Dorothy and Paul Heard of Paden; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The Brown family will receive friends at Parks Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, November 19, 2010, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:00 AM, at Lighthouse Holiness Church in Prague with Rev. Aaron Brock officiating. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery in Paden. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
