Kathryn Janet Thorpe

Kathryn Janet Thorpe was born on September 19, 1944 to William Ralph and Lillian Beulah (Agee) Howard in Holdenville, OK. She graduated from Guthrie High School, later marrying Mickey Joe Thorpe on June 15, 1963 in Carthage, MO. Kathryn watched children for school teachers for many years later working as a school secretary for the Meeker Public Schools. Her hobbies included traveling (including traveling to Branson), watching grandkids during their activities and going to the movies. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother known as “Nana”. Kathryn is survived by her husband, Mickey Thorpe, of the home; son, Al Thorpe and wife, Shannon of Prague; daughter, Kristy Cunningham and husband, JR of Chandler, OK; sister, Mary Ann Brown of Virginia; grandchildren, Tanner and Brady Thorpe of Prague, Drew Cunningham of Chandler, Kaylee Burchardt and husband, Jeremy of Chandler, Hartley and Hollis Burchardt of Chandler; and numerous family members and close friends who were dear to her heart. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Beulah Howard; sister, Mona Miller; and uncle and aunt, Fieldon and Helen Parham. Funeral services for Kathryn are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK with burial at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, OK. Family will receive friends from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm on Thursday at the church before service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
