Karron Joe (Jody) Combs, age 66, of Wewoka Oklahoma, died peacefully April 29th at home with her family. Karron was born December 4, 1954 at Fort Carson, Colorado to Eddie Carl Vandenburg and Jeannie Vandenburg. She spent her early years abroad as her father was in the Army, before returning to Oklahoma. In 1971 she married Harold Combs of Mill Valley California. Over the next decade they had two children, Arron Glen Combs and Riley Edward Combs. She earned a degree from Rose State College in Oklahoma graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1992. She used this education while living in the UK, Hong Kong, and New Zealand with her family, to teach English as a Second Language. She was a staunch member of the Mormon faith and held the position of Relief Society President in the US, UK, and Hong Kong. She and Harold were married in the Atlanta Temple in 1983. Karron loved to help others, becoming a leader in the Boy Scouts organization and one of the few women to earn the Wood Badge award. She loved adventure and lived in 5 countries around the world after her boys were grown. She raised her granddaughter Crystal from age 3 during her travels. She was an author with two books on Amazon.com under the pen name Jo Calhoun. In her later years she suffered from diabetes and kidney failure. This led to Calciphylaxis which eventually took her life. Her passing has left a huge hole in the lives of her family and those who knew her. OK And is survived by: Husband Harold Combs; Son Riley Combs; Grandchildren Crystal Combs, Nicholas Combs, Bella Combs, Karense Zaccardi, Heather Zaccardi, Tyler Zaccardi; Great Grandchildren Adrianna Darby, Cayden Faith; Mother Jeannie Vandenburg; Sisters Carla Brooks, Vickie Mortensen, Becky Barrington; Brother Eddie Vandenburg, Jr. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 3:30 PM at White Dove Cemetery, Sparks, OK.
