Karla Kathleen Prieto

Karla Kathleen Prieto, Choctaw, OK, age 56, was born on May 27, 1953, in Chickasha, OK. She was the daughter of Curtis & Peggy (Beard) Scruggs. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in Oklahoma City, OK. Karla grew up in Rush Springs, OK, and graduated from Rush Springs High School. She married Steve Prieto on October 10, 2009, in Rush Springs, OK. She worked at Metro Career Technology Center for 10 years and at EOC Career Technology Center for nine years, where she was the Adult Student Service Secretary. Karla joined the First Missionary Baptist Church in Rush Springs, at an early age. She attended St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Harrah, with her husband, Steve. Karla was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a precious daughter. Karla loved to cook desserts and enjoyed caring for her cockatiels. Karla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Karl and Cora Scruggs, Dona L. Beard and Levi Beard. Survivors include her husband, Steve Prieto of the home; 2 sons & daughter-in-law, Stuart O'Neal, Oklahoma City, OK, Terry & Laura O'Neal, Houston, TX; 2 step-daughters & husbands, Cynthia & David Bonicelli, Shawnee, OK, LaDonna & Paul Williams, Jones, OK; parents, Curtis & Peggy Scruggs, Rush Springs, OK; 2 sisters, Shannon Foster, Rush Springs, OK, Joyce Scruggs, Marlow, OK; 9 grandchildren, many relatives and special friends. Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Terry Beard officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
