Jvon Leonard Cook, passed away peacefully at his home in Prague on June 10, 2020. He was born on September 23, 1936 in Macomb, Oklahoma. He was the son of Leonard Earl and Edna (Brown) Cook. Jvon was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, coach, teacher and friends and will be missed by many. Jvon was a 1954 graduate of Prague High School. Upon graduating from high school, Jvon proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. After four years of duty, he returned home and enrolled in Seminole State and then graduated from East Central University. Jvon was a teacher and coach. He coached both basketball and baseball and taught history and social studies. Jvon started his career at Paden Public Schools and then went on to serve at Varnum, PG Seminole, Dustin and Boley. Coaching the Boley Bears was his dream job and proudly served there until his retirement. Jvon married Pat (Farmer) Cook on June 6, 1959 and were happily married until his death. The couple had three children. Jvon was a wonderful husband and father. He very much enjoyed every moment he had with his grandchildren. He loved to make them laugh and never was without a funny joke to tell. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Prague, he served as the president of the JC Club for two years, was very active in the ABC Booster Clubs, little league programs and kept the stat books for the football team. He loved to bale hay and to work with his tractor. He influenced many young lives throughout his career and lifetime. Jvon was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob Cook. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat Cook, of the home; three children, Jvon Ray Cook and his husband Leon Burkitt, Janon Gosnell and Chase Cook and his wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Chelsea Knoch and her husband Taylor, Brittany Gosnell, Crystal Cook, Lilly Cook, C.J. Cook, Jolene Cook and Colt Cook; great-grandchildren; Dylan Gosnell, Brooklynn Gosnell, Madelyn Knoch, Slaydon Knoch, Brendyn Poullard, and many loving friends and family. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00PM on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Prague. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery.
