Junior R. Walden was born on November 13, 1928, in Seminole, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Veteran's Home in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. Junior, the son of Marcus E. and Mattie Mae (Martin) Walden, was a former resident of Prague. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He flew more than 125 combat missions in Vietnam as a flight engineer. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1974, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a safety technician until his retirement. He married Helen (Wilson) Horton on December 18, 2004, in Skiatook, Oklahoma. They moved to Owasso in 2007 and Junior moved to the Veteran's Center in Claremore in 2008. Junior was a member of the First Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the McAlester Consistory, a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Disabled American Vets. His parents; first wife, Phyliss (McConnell); second wife Pat (Morgan); adopted son, Alan; three brothers; and two sisters preceded Junior in death. Survivors include wife,Helen Walden of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Darrell Ray Walden of Hammond, LA, Raymond Dean Walden of Hammond, LA, Robert Dale Walden of Hammond, LA, Phillip and Sandy Shepherd of Sutter, CA, David Smith of Sacramento, CA; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Scott Barber of Skiatook, Jacqueline Brakefield of Owasso, Michelle Frankard of Wisconsin, Laraine Davis of Nevada, Donna Schultz of Sacramento, CA; brothers and sister-in-law, Earl Walden of Prague, Harold and Donna Walden of Prague; sisters-in-law, Norma Walden of Warner, Elsie Guinn of Meeker, Farrell Walden of Prague; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole County. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
