Juanita Proffitt Goss, age 90, was born on January 24, 1917, in Tupelo, Oklahoma. She was the ninth of ten children born to David Backus and Alma Lula Baggett Proffitt. She married Alvie Newton ?Jack? Goss on December 12, 1936, in Ada, Oklahoma. Jack and Juanita purchased Goss Dry Goods in Maud, Oklahoma in 1946. They opened a Goss Dry Goods in Prague, Oklahoma, in 1954. This business was sold in 1972 when Jack became ill. Juanita was very active in the Prague United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Prague Hospital Auxiliary for many years, a member of Chapter AF of PEO, a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Prague Historical Society. Juanita loved people and most of all, she loved her family. Her parents; four brothers and five sisters; husband, Jack Goss; and one grandchild, Randy Lynn Aylor, preceded Juanita in death. Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Goss, LaJune Goss, and Peggy Goss, all of Eufaula; five grandchildren, Mikel Aylor of Oklahoma City, Gary and Delana Aylor of Oklahoma City, Marita Morris of Oklahoma City, Michelle and Tom Spieker of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Chad and Connie Haberman of Okemah; ten great-grandchildren, Tyler Aylor, Jared and Zack Aylor, Andrew Whetstone and his wife Lindsay, Michelle Whetstone, Christa Whetstone, all of Oklahoma City, Ella McKenzie Spieker of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Rachel, Jordan, and Taylor Haberman of Okemah; one great-great-grandson, Ethan Parker Whetstone of Oklahoma City; niece/sister-in-law, Bobbye Goss of Stonewall; nephews, Douglas Goss of Fort Mikovy, AZ, Bill Walker of Charlotte, NC, Sam Proffitt of Tulsa, Tim Proffitt of Camarilla, CA, Bob Proffitt of Mansfield, TN, David Proffitt of Gladwyn, MI, Jim Goss of Stonewall; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
