Juanita Mae English

Juanita English was born on July 20, 1925 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to George Robert Sullivan and Naomi Jane (Gardner) Sullivan. She was the youngest of 8 children. The family moved to Waggoner where she attended grade school and later moved to Tulsa where she graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1944. She worked for the Frito Lay Company until she married Dennis English on January 6, 1946. The couple made their home near Stroud, Oklahoma. To this union was born 3 children. Juanita enjoyed spending time with her children, gardening, working on the farm, and later keeping books for her husband's electrical service in Stroud. They moved to Drumright, Oklahoma in 1972 when her husband took a job at Central Vo-tech. They were both very active in the Drumright Christian Church and the Stroud Christian Church where they were members for many years. They moved to Maud, Oklahoma in 2000 to be near their oldest daughter. Juanita was preceded in death by parents, her husband, four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Jan Schmit and son-in-law Jim of Maud, Oklahoma, son, Larry English and daughter-in-law Kathy, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter, Shirley Burk and son-in-law, Gary of Bella Vista, AR. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michelle Callis and Scott of Lake Dallas, TX, Stephanie Van Meter and Erik of Columbus, OH, Darrell Newcomb and Tamara of Broken Arrow, OK, Todd English and Billie of Bixby, Oklahoma, David English of Tulsa, OK, Stephen Remington and Courtney of Cushing, OK., Christi Corter and Eric of Oklahoma City, OK., Daniel Oaks and Cyd of Yukon, OK and 15 Great-grandchildren. Other friends and many relatives and a special Thank You to Heart Land Hospice and a special thanks to care giver and friend Martha Hester. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stroud Christen Church in Stroud, Oklahoma with Pastor Will Fine officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma.
