Joyce Niomi McKee, a long time resident of Prague, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in Seminole, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Joyce was born on Thursday, June 2, 1932 in Madill, Oklahoma. She was raised in Cumberland, Oklahoma and attended Cumberland Schools. Following school, Joyce became a certified nursing assistant and worked for home health and nursing homes. Joyce spent many years working at Parkland Manor in Prague. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed spending time in her garden. She loved to grow vegetables to share with friends and family. She was a loving woman who enjoyed spending time and taking care of others. She loved to travel and visit family and friends. Joyce was a dedicated member of the Prague First Baptist Church for many years. She also was a member at Sharon Ruth Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David Oliver Choate in 1962 and Charles "Charlie" Ray McKee in 2002; daughter, Donna Johns; two sons, David Andrew Choate and Wesley Franklin Choate; grandson, Shawn Choate and one sister, Marell Crews. She is survived by children; Janet Gerrard and her husband, Jack, of Oklahoma City, Lakitha Dees of Midwest City, Joseph McKee and his wife, Debbie Tsotaddle-McKee of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Jerry Johns Jr., Tammy Clark, Michelle Akins, Karen Wilkes, Michael Choate, Crystal Choate, Aniyah Wahnee-McKee and Hayden Wahnee-McKee; brother, Ocie Eugene Jordan of Chandler; sister, Bernice Waunell Spoon of Norman. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Joyce's honor to the charity of your choice.
