Joyce Mae Place

Joyce Mae (Lewis) Place, Stroud resident, was born on June 28, 1954 in Chandler, OK and departed this life on November 10, 2020 in Stroud, OK at the age of 66 years. Joyce is the daughter of Troy and Mertle (Harding) Lewis. Joyce and her husband Jerry Dawayne Place Sr. were married on October 16, 1972 at the Nazarene Church in Davenport. They shared 48 years and raised ten children together. She worked 15 years for Quickset and was also a manager for McDonalds. Joyce had a kind heart, was a strong and fun-loving woman who was very motherly and family oriented. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, camping with her grandchildren, and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by her family whom she loved so much. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, great grandson Brayden Hudson, and numerous brothers and sisters. Joyce leaves behind her husband Jerry Place of the home, Daughter Aimee Bear, and son Jerry D. Place Jr. Her grandchildren Jessica Nichole Place Hudson, Kyle Ray Bear and wife Sadie Nicole (Barrett) Bear, and Kourtney Renee Bear. Her great grandchildren Waylon Bear, Jackson Dewayne Bear, and Madilynn Hudson. Her brothers Bill Lewis and James Lewis. Her sisters Chloe Wilson, Martha Berry, and Elizabeth Miller and numerous extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday November 17, 2020 at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Stroud officiated by Pastor James Bond.
