Joyce Alma Muzny

Long time Prague resident, Joyce Alma (Walker) Muzny passed away on August 13, 2019 on her family’s ranch in Sparks. She loved being on the ranch and it was fitting that there, is where she went to be with her Lord. Joyce was born on April 3, 1929 near Bowlegs, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Archibald and Bessie Olan (Horner) Walker. She graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1947. Later in 1947, Joyce married Charles “Leroy” Muzny in Prague, Oklahoma. The ceremony was held at the St. Wenceslaus Parish and the reception followed at the Bohemian Hall. The reception was an old fashion Bohemian wedding party, which included a polka band, wine, beer and hard liquor, even though Oklahoma was a dry state at the time. The party was fondly remembered by many in Prague for years to come. Joyce was a beautician by trade, including owner her own shop for a while. Joyce was also actively involved in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague. She also loved being outdoors and observing wildlife. On Saturday afternoons, she would be found cheering on the Sooners and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with Leroy. Joyce was loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bessie Walker; her husband, Charles “Leroy” Muzny; one son, Dr. Charles Christopher Muzny and one daughter, Caroline (Muzny) Allen and her husband, Tommy. She is survived by one son, Samuel Muzny and many loving friends. A Rosary Service will be held on Wednesday, August 28th at 10:00 AM and Mass will follow. Both events will be held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with Father Long officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
