Josephine Reid

Josephine Agnes Reid, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident, was born on January 20, 1920, in Biggers, Arkansas, and departed this life on December 10, 2008, at her home of seventy years on the family farm in Chandler, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years. Josephine was the daughter of Adam and Mary Elizabeth Ausman Knoch. She moved with her family to Oklahoma at a young age. Josephine married Louwien Thomas Reid on May 13, 1935, in Chandler, Oklahoma, and the two built their life together on the Reid homestead. Throughout her life, Josephine enjoyed attending the Chandler Southern Baptist Church where she was in charge of the church nursery for many years. During her working years, she worked as a receptionist, mail carrier, and a store clerk. Also during WW II, she worked as a riveter at Douglas Aircraft. Later in life, Josephine spent nearly every weekday at the Chandler Senior Center, painting ceramics, quilting, and serving as secretary for a time. Her parents, husband, four brothers and one sister preceded Josephine in death. Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Joseph & Debra Reid of Chandler, OK; daughter & son-in-law, Donna & Don Geiger of Choctaw, OK. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relative and many friends. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Alzheimer''s Assoc. 6465 S. Yale Ave., Suite 312, Tulsa, OK 74136-7804. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 12, 2008 at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler, Oklahoma, with Dr. Wesley Graver officiating. Burial will folllow in the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
