Joseph 'Joe' Walter Seargent, Jr., was born on June 11, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Sunday, December 21, 2008, in Seminole, Oklahoma, at the age of 79. Joe, the son of Joseph Walter, Sr., and Lena Leona Gray Seargent, was a long-time resident of Prague. He married Betty Jean Clapp on August 6, 1949, in Oklahoma City. Joe was affiliated with the Baptist faith, was a self-employed cement contractor in Oklahoma City, and was the owner of the B.J. Corral in Prague. His parents; six brothers, Buster, John, Marvin, Jess, Roy and Elmer; and two sisters, Thelma and Ruby, preceded Joe in death. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Seargent of the home; daughters, Teresa Jean Seargent of Prague, Debbie Louise Overby of Prague; grandchildren, Kiley and Ron Bailey of Prague, Shane and Kayla Overby of Tecumseh, Isham Overby of Tulsa; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Terron, Jillian, and Branom Bailey of Prague, Boston and Wyatt Overby of Tecumseh; sister, Vonda Males of Vian. Visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23 and Friday, December 26, from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery.
