John Turner Meadors was born on February 13, 1925, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, December 31, 2007, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. Turner, the son of Ray Randal and Helen Gilley Meadors, was a resident of Wetumka. Turner proudly served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. He married Patsy Jean 'Patty' Beyer. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2006 following 58 years of marriage. Turner was a long-time rancher in the Wetumka area. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wetumka, a member and former board member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen?s Association, and former champion of the Grand National Quail Hunt in Enid. Turner?s parents and one son, John, also preceded him in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Connie Meadors of Okemah, Randy and Nancy Meadors of Wetumka; One sister, Rynette Crilley, Hilton Head, NC., sister-in-law, Peggy Williams and her husband George; grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, Kyle, Clint, Angie, Collin, Cody, and Sara; his caretaker, Dewayne Heard of Wetumka; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of friends. Memorials may be made to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, 1700 NE 63rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73111.
