Funeral services for Mr. John Thomas James, age 79, of Prague, Oklahoma will begin at 10:00am Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Brother Joe Jones officiating. A graveside service will be held at Holdenville Cemetery on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 2:00pm. The James family will greet friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague. John James was born to Lester and Lorene (Postlewaite) James on September 1, 1938 in Oklahoma City and departed this life, surrounded by those he loved, on July 29, 2018 at his home in Prague. John was known as a loving brother, a beloved husband, father and grandfather. John met the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Shirley (Wood) James, when Shirley was working as a carhop and delivered coffee to John. They were married on December 27, 1957 in Oklahoma City. They initially made their home in Oklahoma City before moving to Choctaw, where they lived for 40 years, Meeker, where they lived for 16 years and then to Prague for the past 4 years. John was always known as a hard worker, he started his own water well drilling service in 1963, and would later provide an opportunity for John’s sons to work along side him. John also worked in the lumber business, delivered propane and drove a school bus for Midwest City Public Schools. John was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Louann Stanford, Billye Jo Ramer, Becky Sue James and Nadine Fish; one granddaughter, Christy James; and one niece, Sherry James. John is survived by his loving wife, Shirley James of the home; two sons, Flint Lee and his wife Debbie James of Mustang, John Young and wife Sylvia James of Wellston; one daughter, Rena “JoJo” Brown of Prague; five siblings, Donald James, Jean Mears, Joyce Sanders, Frank James and Jimmy James; five grandchildren, Tommy James, Michael James, Calvin Brown, Shelbie Yones and husband Patrick, Kailee James and 8 great-grandchildren.
