John P. Steele

John P. Steele was born on December 22, 1929, in Ada, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, November 22, 2013, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 83. John, the son of Walter and Nola (Whitsett) Steele, was a resident of Harrah. He married Dorothy (Gritz) Steele in August, 1949, in Hennessey, Oklahoma. For over 40 years, John owned and managed a full service gas station, Johnny’s Mobil then Johnny’s Texaco, in Enid. After retirement, he and Dorothy moved to Harrah. His parents and eleven brothers and sisters preceded John in death. Survivors include: wife of 64 years, Dorothy Steele of the home; son, John Steele of Sacramento, California; daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen Boggs and companion, John Howell of Meeker and Pam and Greg Vernon of Conifer, Colorado; brother, Virgil Steele of Norge, Oklahoma, six grandchildren; one great grandchild; other family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 1:00 PM, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma with Rev. Tim Knopps officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Harrah.
