John (Jake) (JD) Doyal Devereaux passed away at his home in Prague, OK surrounded by his loving family on January 21, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Calvary Way Church of Prague. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery of Meeker. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Jake was born July 22, 1929 in Tribbey, OK, to Jack and Hester ((Wilson) Devereaux. He was raised and lived in the Prague/Meeker area. He graduated from Meeker High School with the class of 1947. He married Marilyn LaVonne Eggleston on May 23, 1952, in Meeker, OK. Jake loved to farm and raise cattle. He worked for Canadian Valley Electric Coop from 1957 to 1996. He hired on as a lineman, and retired as superintendent of construction. Jake served on the Meeker School Board for 7 years. He was also a member of the Prague Chamber of Commerce, Meeker Chamber of Commerce and was a founding member of the Meeker Round Up Club where he served 2 terms as President. He was also a honorary chapter farmer of Meeker FFA. Jake served 2 years in the Army during the Korean War. He served overseas in Japan and Korea as a guard and a mechanic. Jake was a member of the Calvary Way Church in Prague, OK. Jake is preceded in death by daughter Jamezine Devereaux, son Dennis Devereaux, great granddaughter Ella June Dupus, parents Jack and Hester Devereaux, brother Ollen Devereaux, sister and brother-in-law Loyce and Troy Gouker. Jake is survived by his wife of 69 years, LaVonne Devereaux, son Louis and Lisa Devereaux, son Terry Devereaux, daughter Regina and James Schimmel, sister Joyce and Leon Williams, brother Arthur and Kayron Devereaux, and sister in laws Katheren Devereaux and JoAnn Abbott. Grandchildren: Alisha and Josh Cheatwood, Jamie and Chase Dupus, Rachel and Eric Mize, Chad and Ashley Devereaux, Teri Lynn Devereaux and Clay Dagy, Deric Harris, Randi McKinney, Brandon and Dae Lowe, Caleb Todd, Jennifer and Justin Terrell, John and BeeJay Green, Jessica and Derek Mayfield. 31 Great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
