John was the son of John Houston Sr. and Rose Etta Womack Byford. John was a resident of Davenport, Oklahoma since 1976, worked in the oilfield, and was affiliated with the Independent Baptist Church in Davenport, Oklahoma. He married Josephine Mae Scott in Liberal, KS on April 19, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 29, 2001. He was also preceded in death by parents, 1 daughter, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
