John Edward Gormley, Claremore, Oklahoma, resident was born on November 12, 1924, in Chandler, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at his home at the Veterans Center in Claremore, at the age of 82 years. John was the son of James Edward and Minnie Parthina Killian Gormley. He married Ruby Mae Stidham on February 13, 1944, in Chandler. They made there home in Chandler where John worked in the oil fields and later worked as a mechanic. John served his country as a member of the 45th. Division of the National Guard and fought in the Korean War when they were deployed in 1951. In 1961 they moved to Owassa, Oklahoma, where he worked as a diesel mechanic for Mid-Continent until he retired in 1980. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he attained the 32nd degree. He was also a member of the Eastern Star of Owasso and the Akdar Shrine of Tulsa. John was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, two brothers, Francis Isaac Gormley, and James William Gormley. Survivors include, Son, Gary Wayne Gormley of Collinsville, OK, Daughter, Kenita Gormley of Collinsville, OK, One brother, Two Sisters, Robert Joseph Gormley of Antlers, OK, Elizabeth Jane Burgess of Chandler, OK, Mary Ann Thornton of Sapulpa, OK, Five Grandchildren Eight Great ?grandchildren, Many nieces and nephews.
