Joe Winston Sporleder was born in Chandler, Oklahoma on November 5, 1945 and departed this life in Davenport, Oklahoma on Thursday June 7, 2012 at the age of 66 years. Joe was the son of Julius M. Sporleder and Juanita (Castleberry) Sporleder. He was a life-long resident of Lincoln County. Joe grew up on the family farm and graduated from the Davenport High School where he was active in F.F.A and earned a State Farmer Degree. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for three years, two of these years were during the Vietnam War. Joe received a degree in diesel mechanics from Oklahoma State, Okmulgee in 1966. Over the years Joe worked for the Miller Trucking Company in Stroud, Oklahoma, the Turner Turnpike Maintence Crew, Blakley Lumber Company and owned and opperated Apple Abby's Resaurant in Agra for several years. He recently retired from the Arrow Pump and Supply Company in Stroud, Oklahoma after becoming seriously ill. Joe was a life-long farmer-rancher, an accomplished welder, and did custom welding for others as well as on the Sporleder Farms. He was a member of the Davenport First Baptist Church and the Davenport VFW Post. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty J Leake. Survivors include, Son, Joel Michael Sporleder of Rogers, Arkansas, Brothers, William E. Sporleder of Davenport, Oklahoma, Michael Sporleder of Davenport, Oklahoma, Don E. Sporleder and wife Paula of Davenport, Oklahoma. Sisters: Barbara S. Starling of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Phyllis A. Shuey and husband Ronald of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Brother-in-law: Vernon Leake and wife Von of Chandler, Oklahoma, Granddaughter: Ash Elizabeth Sporleder of Rogers, Arkansas, 7 nieces and nephews, 8 great neices and nephews, 1great-great nephew. other relatives and many friends. Graveside Services will be on Saturday the 9th of June at 11:00 am at the Davenport Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Mike Mitchell Officiating. Burial will follow at the Davenport Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services of Stroud, Oklahoma. In Lieu of Flowers memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
