Joe T. Talbert Sr.

Joe Thomas Talbert was born May 24, 1921 in Texarkana, Texas to Simon Columbus and Mary Alma (Clinkenbeard) Talbert. He was the seventh of eight children. He was a member of the County Avenue Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas. Joe attended public schools in Texarkana, Arkansas and graduated from North Heights High School in 1939. Joe enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 19, 1939 and was discharge on October 26, 1945, as a Sergeant. Joe married Nita Jeffus on February 1, 1948 and they moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas were Joe was attending the University of Arkansas. Joe was actives in the Masonic Lodge and he became 32nd Degree Mason in the Temple at Fort Smith, Arkansas. Joe love to fish and hunt and run cattle and do farm work. Joe and Nita had a son Joseph Thomas Talbert Jr. was born September 16, 1957. Following graduation from the University of Arkansas in January 28, 1950, he worked for The Ozark Canners Association and Pillsbury Mills as an outside salesman. We moved to Tulsa in June 1958 and Joe worked as an outside Salesman in the oilfield for Walter O'Bannon Corporation and Dover Corporation. He moved to Drumright and Cushing area from Tulsa. Joe retired from Dover Corporation in 1987 and he has been a farmer and rancher in Stroud, Oklahoma. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and his daughter in Law, Penny Talbert. He is survived by Wife Nita of the home, one son, Tom Talbert of Stroud, one sister, Ida Mae Lewis of Missouri, three grandchildren Laura Lee Smoot of Cushing, Justin Daniel Talbert and wife Jennifer of Edmond, Chelsea Wright and husband Zackary of Stroud, four great grandchildren, Megan and Dasan Smoot of Cushing, Sophia and Lincoln Talbert of Edmond. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Stroud at 10:00 AM with Pastor James Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Parks in Cushing under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud
