Joe "Junior" Landrum

September 29, 1925 — July 11, 2009

Joe “Junior” Landrum was born at home, in Paden, Oklahoma on September 29, 1925 and departed this life on Saturday, July 11, 2009, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 83. Joe, the son of Elmer Houston and Bessie Lee (Dawson) Landrum, was the oldest of nine children. Joe married Lillian Lowery on November 27, 1948 in Okemah and lived in this area all of his life. Joe was a veteran of World War II serving overseas with the United States Army and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 26 years, until August 27, 1973. After retirement he was still very active and worked hard every day of his life on the farm, raising cattle, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren . All you have to do is look at their place and it speaks volumes as to his work ethic. His love of his wife and family was unprecedented. He had a special place in his heart for kids, and always made time for them, and not just his own. He and Lillian made countless trips to Edmond and around the state to watch his grandchildren’s activities. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, three brothers- in-law, two sisters-in-law, and one great granddaughter. Survivors include wife, Lillian Landrum of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Hope and Joe Deaton of Chickasha, Janet and Mike Cartmill of Edmond; One granddaughter, Rachel and her husband, Alex Vindman of Alexandria, VA; Two grandsons, J. J. Cartmill and his wife, Michelle of Edmond, Pat Cartmill of Edmond; Two great grandchildren, Madison Nicole and John David Cartmill; Three Sisters, Odrey Muncy of Oklahoma City, Jo Ann Rehage of Covington, LA, Doretha and Vance Lowery of Seminole; One Brother and sister-in-law, Jack & Phyllis Landrum of Cromwell; One sister-in-law, Ann & Bill Woodard; Two brothers-in-law, Tommy Harris of Prague, Glen Berry of Oklahoma City; Several nieces and nephews.
