JoAnn Appleby, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born June 9, 1930, in Drumright, Oklahoma, and departed this life on December 1, 2020, in Chandler at the age of 90 years. JoAnn was the daughter of Dewey and Eva (Hayes) Curry. She grew up in Chandler, her parents owned and operated the Lincoln County Republican News Paper, her father was the local mortician, and her mother was the Chandler Postmaster. JoAnn graduated from Chandler High School in 1948. She attended the University of Oklahoma, and later went on to attend and graduate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with a major in music. JoAnn was a member of the Chandler First United Methodist Church, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #139. She enjoyed reading, playing golf, singing and playing the piano. JoAnn was beautiful, classy, smart, quick witted, musically gifted, and could brighten up any room she walked into. Her life, like ours, had its ups and downs, good days and bad, triumphs and heartbreaks, but through it all, she never lost her zeal, and passion for life. JoAnn will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
