Joan Marlowe

Joan (Humphries) Marlowe, passed away on, Friday, April 22, 2022 in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 79. She was born on Thursday, September 10, 1942 in West Memphis, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Marshall Acy and Mary (White) Humphries. She grew up in Earle, Arkansas, attending Earle Public Schools. Following high school, Joan went to work and worked for many years for Brown and Root, doing contract work for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. She retired from Brown and Root, at the age of 62. After retiring, she relocated to Prague, Oklahoma. Where she joined Rudy Bailey at Bailey's Nursery. She helped Rudy with flowers, produce and trees. She loved to spend time in her garden and enjoyed watching her flowers and produce grow. Each year, she had a garden that was the envy of everyone around. She would often sell her produce to local residents. At one time, she set up a beautiful green house. There she grew many plants and flowers, but most importantly to her, she grew interest and passion from young people, whom she taught and mentored. Joan loved to spend time with her friends and family. She often traveled the country to visit them. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed searching for and collecting antiques. You would also find her enjoying a great mystery novel. She enjoyed traveling, camping and seeing the country. Joan was strong in her faith and knew her savior, Jesus Christ. She was a giving person, she loved to donate to different charities and volunteer, serving those in need. Joan was preceded in death by parents, one brother, Marshall Acy Humphries Jr. and one sister, Juju Oswalt Hughes. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Newton and her husband, Randy, of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Crystal Baker and her husband, Rick, of Lincolnton, Georgia; signifigant other, Rudy Bailey; four grandchildren, Zachary Marlowe Baker and his wife, Kristen, of Grovetown, Georgia, Aubrey Jo Baker of Martinez, Georgia, Morgan Stacy of Austin, Texas and Marlo Stacy Medina and her husband, Rudy, of Greenbrier, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren, Jack Preston Baker, Beau Riley Baker, Emma June Ward, Lane Everett Ward and Juleea Lillibeth Medina; brother-in-law, Buddy Hughes of Hughes, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Mandy Humphries of West Memphis, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
