Jo Ann Melton

Jo Ann Melton, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born on October, 10, 1929, in Chandler, Oklahoma, and departed this life on October 15, 2006, at her home in Chandler, at the age of 77 years. Jo Ann was the daughter of Joe and Mabel Hill Rushing. She graduated from the Chandler High School in 1947. Jo Ann married L.P. ?Junior? Melton in Depew, Oklahoma, on June 10, 1956. She was the Lincoln County Court Clerk for many years. Jo Ann was very active in the community, having been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Patcher Club, Rainbows, Granny?s Trunk Antiques, Court Clerk Association and the Chandler First Christian Church. Her parents, daughter, Shirley Melton; and one brother, John Rushing; preceded Jo Ann in death. Survivors include, Husband, L.P. ?Junior? Melton of the home, Son, Johnny Melton of Chandler, OK, Daughter, Ronda Johns of Kendrick, OK, Five grandchildren, Eight great-grandchildren, Other relatives and many friends. Expression of sympathy may be made to the Prairie View Hospice in Chandler.
