Jimmie Wayne Carpenter, of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 84. Jimmie was born on Saturday, January 8, 1938 in Castle, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jimmie Cornelius and Cleo Vadie (Adams) Carpenter. Jimmie grew up in Prague, attended Prague Public Schools and was a 1956 graduate of Prague High School. After high school, Jimmie moved to California, where he decided to serve his country by proudly enlisting in the United States Army. While in the Army, Jimmie was awarded the American Defense Service Commemorative Medal, the Fidelity Efficiency Honor Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Honorable Discharge Medal and the Cold War Victory Commemorative Medal. Following his military service, Jimmie worked as a skilled machinist at Eaton from 1979 until his retirement in 2000. Jimmie was very involved in the Prague community for many years. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Prague, where he served for many years as a deacon. He was also very involved and active in the Prague American Legion Post 11. He was a member of the Prague Round Up-Club and in his spare time, Jimmie enjoyed leather working and saddlery. He enjoyed roping, chuckwagon cookouts and playing his guitar. Jimmie married Delores “Maxine” (Stotler) Carpenter on October 5, 1957. The couple had one daughter, Debbie (Carpenter) Crider. Jimmie later married, Mary Elizabeth (Gilman) Carpenter on July 31, 1960 and the couple were happily married for 61 years. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Delores “Maxine” (Stotler) Carpenter; his wife of 61 years, Mary E. (Gilman) Carpenter; one son, Clint Carpenter; his mother and father-in-law, Claude and Mildred Gilman; two brothers, Glen Carpenter and Lee Roy Carpenter; sister-in-law, Lucy Carpenter; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Harvey Bates; son-in-law, Don Crider; brothers-in-law, Noel Anderson and Robert Gilman; nieces, Sheila Macy and Peaduta Rutledge and nephews, Little Clyde Gilman and Dillion Rutledge. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie L and Brenda Carpenter of Maud; two daughters, Connie Carpenter and Debbie Crider, both of Prague; daughter-in-law, Barbara Carpenter-Francis of Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Ann Gilman of Purcell and two sisters-in-law, Marcella Carpenter of Prague and Pat Phillips of Noble. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dawn Crenshaw of Harrah, Westy and Devin Carpenter of Maud, Megan and Kayla Carpenter of Yukon, Tru and Sam Etcheson of Konawa, Crissy Carpenter and Travis Curl of Moore, Jayla and Sean Fleming of Asher and Colby Carpenter of Maud; ten great-grandchildren, Darra McCollum, Daysha Hall, Tanner Kaase and Mikenzie Crenshaw, Paisley Cole, Wyatt and Bryer Etcheson, Denton and Blakely Carpenter and Quinnly Fleming; four great great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
