Janet Virginia Caldwell

Janet ?Virginia? Surrage Caldwell was born on July 10, 1913, in Ogden, UT, and passed away in Shawnee, OK, on June 10, 2004, at the age of 90. Virginia was the daughter of Charles W. and Charlotte Sheppard Surrage. She graduated from Albion State Normal School in Idaho and finished at Southern Idaho College of Education with a BA in elementary education. She taught school for 30 years in Idaho, Washington and California, retiring in 1973. Virginia served as a clerk in the United States Army WAC during World War II. She volunteered at libraries and Veteran?s hospitals and also enjoyed sewing, crochet and knitting. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jess Ray Caldwell;sister, Charlotte ?Lottie? Peterson; and one step-son, Stephen Caldwell. Survivors include 3 step-sons & spouses, Wayne & Donna Caldwell, of McKinnleyville, CA, Rodney & Vickie Caldwell, of Shawnee, OK, Greg & Nancy Caldwell of Florida; 5 sisters, Ordema Knobel, Charlene Cooper, Melba McCombs, Irene Phillips, Genevieve Hellwell; 2 grandchildren, Christina Carter & Jeremy Caldwell, 1 great-grandson, Cole Caldwell. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 12, 2004, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Chaplain Glen Pence officiating. Services will also be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Heyburn First & Second Ward Chapel, Heyburn, Idaho. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Heyburn, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
