James R. "Jim" Dotson

James Roy 'Jim' 'Son' Dotson, long-time Chandler, OK, resident was born on September 4, 1927, in Shawnee, OK, and departed this life Thursday, July 26, 2012, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 84 years. Jim was the son of Roy Douglas and Mable Ethel (Martin) Dotson. He married Ella Mae Sapp on July 20, 1948, in Chandler. Jim served in the United Sates Navy aboard the USS Texas, during WWII. He then served in the United States Army, in the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War. Jim worked in the Oil Fields for many years as a Driller and Tool Pusher. He was a member of the local America Legion, VFW, and attended the First Baptist Church in Chandler. His parents, wife, one son, two brothers, and two sisters, preceded Jim in death. Survivors include, one son, Richard Dotson of Dallas, TX, one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Sue and Dennis McAbee of Elk City, OK, one brother, Albert 'Frank' Dotson of Wichita, KS, two grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Chandler, with Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, OK
