He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Patterson of the home, four sons, Brandon and wife Sarah of Shell Knob, MO, James, Jr. JJ of Oklahoma City, Nicklus Cole and wife Emily of Chandler, and Ian James of Oklahoma City. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Frank, father-in-law, Jim Patterson, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Wayne. Jim spent most of his 56 years living in the town of Chandler where he seemed to be at home. He graduated from Chandler High School in 1971 where he excelled in track, football and band. After school he enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam conflict and was assigned to the 82nd airborne paratroopers division in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He served 4 years as an E-5 Sergeant and was released with an honorable discharge. After the Army, Jim returned to Chandler where he met his wife Shirley. They were married December 19th, 1980 in Taos, New Mexico, on what was supposed to be just a ski trip. The vacation ended in 28 years of marriage. He was employed mostly in the Lincoln County area doing various work before settling in the property management business. Jim was a simple man and loved the simple things of life. It seemed that Jim was known and loved by everyone. He was most happy joking around and making people laugh. He was recently involved in a club with his high school buddies where they were working on a backyard clubhouse. Jim also rekindled an old hobby by purchasing a new motorcycle a few months ago. He spent most of his free weekends boating and relaxing at Lake Eufaula. A service will not be held due to Jim''s strict and simple wishes. He would rather have people remember him while he was living. There will be a memorial book signing set up at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler until Friday, December 12th.
