James Lee Teague, long-time Prague resident, passed away at his home on Friday, May 26, 2006, at the age of 80. James, the son of Willie E. and Vera Coyle Teague, was born in a one-room house in Albany, Bryan County, OK, on December 15, 1925. He was the oldest of four boys. In 1928, his parents moved to a farm at Shiloh, TX, where James attended school in a two-room schoolhouse. His family moved to Durant in 1939 where he graduated from high school. James served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II seeing service in the South Pacific Marshall Islands. James married the ?girl next door,? Ruby Patton, on October 20, 1945. She preceded James in death on March 13, 2005. James received his Bachelor?s Degree in 1950 from Southeastern State College at Durant and his Master?s Degree in 1953 from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater. He taught school in Harjo, Broken Arrow, Barndall, Prague, and Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech in Shawnee. After moving to Prague in 1960, James opened a cabinet shop. While living in Prague, James worked in almost all civic organizations in the community. He served eighteen years on the City Council, served three terms as mayor, was past president of the Lions Club, Lincoln County Legislator of OREA, volunteered at the Prague Historical Museum, and was a member of OEA, NEA, the Sierra Club, the American Legion, and the First Baptist Church. He retired from Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech in 1983 following 32 years of teaching. His parents and two brothers, Roy Allen Teague and Millard Eubanks Teague, also preceded James in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Sharon Teague of Oklahoma City, Stuart and Sherry Teague of Prague; daughters and son-in-law, Belinda and Ted Nakamura of Oklahoma City, Priscilla Mars and friend, Larry Baker, of Prague; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
