James Gary Bloomer

July 19, 1941 — July 25, 2017

James Gary Bloomer was born on July 9, 1941, in Courtney, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 76. Gary, the son of James Ralph and Essie Cleo (Martin) Bloomer, was a resident of Seminole since 1970. Gary and Linda Montgomery’s story together starts in 1968 in Marietta, Oklahoma, when Gary came home from serving in the Army in Germany After about five months of dating and seeing each other at church they were married in Marietta on July 6, 1968. About three months before the wedding, Mr. Tup Robertson asked Gary how he would like to have his own store. Well, needless to say, Gary said he would love to, but didn’t have the money to do anything like that. Mr. Robertson told Gary if he was serious he would work all of that out and see that Gary and Linda could get a store. After much thought and traveling round north and then east of Oklahoma City, God showed Gary the right place. “When he pulled up on the 200 exit off I-40, he just knew this was the right location,” Linda said. The couple opened their business on Highway 99 just south of the I-40 Mile marker 200 exit over Labor Day in 1970. Mr. Robertson told the couple they ended up with one of the better locations of all the stores. He, being a Christian friend, also told them that being closed on Sunday was what he would recommend. “If you can’t make it on six days of business, one more day won’t make a difference,” Mr. Robertson told the Bloomers. Gary graduated from high school in Turner with the class of 1959 and earned an Associate’s degree from Seminole State College. Gary and Linda have been members of First Baptist Church in Prague where he taught Sunday School for many years. Gary's parents; mother and father in law, Melvin and Hazel Montgomery; son, Gary Keith Hicks; and sister, LaVerda Bloomer preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Linda Montgomery Bloomer of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kim Bloomer of Salado, TX, Lance and Susan Bloomer of Seminole; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Richard Yeager of Enid; daughter-in-law, Ann Hicks of Tecumseh; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria Sue Stephens of San Antonio, Joy Ellen and Ron Farve of Ardmore; sister-in-law, Martha Reddout and her husband, Terry of Oklahoma City; grandchildrenTerra and Michael Kubilis, Cody and Stephanie Yeager, Alexis Bloomer, Jake Bloomer, Kristin and Lance Underwood, Ty and Summer Hicks, Elijah Bloomer, Isaac Bloomer, Bethany Hicks; great-grandchildren, Taylor Yeager, Alexander and Camilla Yeager, Cicily Anderson, Hunter Underwood.
