James D. Groves

James Dell Groves, age 67, of Harrah, OK, was born on August 25, 1941, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the son of Elmer & Edna (Bryant) Groves. He left this life on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in Midwest City, OK. James proudly served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from Tinker AFB where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the McLoud Masonic Lodge. James was a rock hound – he loved to travel and search for rocks and make jewelry. He also enjoyed reading Native American and Civil War history. James loved socializing with his friends and they were most precious to him. James was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, LaVera B. Groves, Harrah, OK; 3 sons, David Coley, KS, Jed Coley, CO, Jerry Coley, Tulsa, OK; 3 daughters,Tassey Beeson, McLoud, OK, Bobbie Garrison, McLoud, OK, Megan O'Bannion, McLoud, OK; 1 brother, Ronald Groves, Edmond, OK; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Pastor J. C. Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
