James Charles Childers, Sr.

James Charles 'Jim' Childers, Sr., Harrah, OK, age 73, was born on April 3, 1934, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the son of James Henry & Norma Jean Walker Childers. He went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 15, 2008, at his home in Harrah. Jim married Dorothy Ussery on February 10, 1951 in Oklahoma City. He was a loving husband of 57 years. Jim worked construction for many years and recently for Blue and Gold. He was an ordained deacon at Calvary Baptist in Ohio and attended the First Baptist Church of Harrah. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and collecting antiques. Jim was an OU Sooners fan and a member of the Harrah 'older mens coffee club'. He was loved and will be missed by all. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joann Morris. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; 2 sons & daughters-in-law, James & Sondra Childers, Harrah, OK, Michael & LeAnn Childers, Nicoma Park, OK; 4 grandchildren, Dillon, Christa, Laurie & Michael Childers; sister, Judy Joyce, Pataskala, OH; his precious dog Petie and many other relatives and friends. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, Harrah, OK, with Dr. Tony Nickel officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
