J. R. Dial

J. R. Dial, age 91, of McLoud, OK, was born on August 3, 1923, in Evening Shade, Arkansas. He was the son of John S. & Floy (Phillips) Dial. He left this life on Thursday, September 25, 2014, in Shawnee, OK. J. R. proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He married Iris Evelyn Calvert on August 14, 1948, in Oklahoma City, OK. He retired from Tinker AFB after 25 years, where he was an aircraft engineer. J. R. was an active member of the First Baptist Church, McLoud, OK, and a 32 degree Mason in Oklahoma City. Fishing was his hobby and farming was his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Douglas Reed Dial and two sisters, Eva and Ina. Survivors include his wife, Iris Dial, McLoud, OK; son, John Marshall Dial, McLoud, OK; 4 grandchildren, Nathan Dial, Scott Dial, Amber Dial and Kirsty Grieve; 9 great-grandchildren, Regina, Clayton, Jonah, Adam, Levi, Savannah, Noah, Tony and Bennie and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, McLoud, OK, with Rev. Matt Halsted and Rev. Larry Sparks, officiating. Interment will follow at Jamison Cemetery, McLoud, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
