Irvin R. "Bud" Blakley

Irvin “Bud” Richard Blakley was born on August 13, 1937, in Kendrick, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 76. Bud, the son of Harlie and Lola Mae (Sutton) Blakley, was a resident of Davenport. He married Carolyn Sue Johnson Blakley on December 20, 1975 in Stroud, Oklahoma. Bud graduated from Kendrick High School in 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davenport. Bud was a member and past president of the Davenport Lions Club, a past president of the Davenport and Chandler Chambers of Commerce, a member of the Davenport All-Sport Club, a past president of the Oklahoma Lumberman’s Association in 1983, a past president of the Oklahoma State Homebuilders Legislative Committee, a lifetime Spike member of the National Home Builders Association and one of the first six certified state home builders. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Davenport Fire Department. His parents and sister preceded Bud in death. Survivors include: wife of 38 years, Carolyn Sue Blakley of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Harlie “Skip” and Tamara Blakley of Kendrick, Irvin R. “Dick” and Cleta Jo Blakley of Tecumseh, Michael Kent and Suzanne Ann Smith of Kendrick, Ricky D. and Genia Smith of Kingfisher; brother, Earl Ray Blakley of Forth Worth, TX; sister, Mary Lou Jones of Nichollis, GA; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; other family and friends. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the building fund at the First Baptist Church of Davenport, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church in Chandler with Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Kendrick Cemetery in Kendrick. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
