Irma Christine Smith

Irma Christine Smith was born on July 18, 1924, in Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, December 1, 2008, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Irma, the daughter of Fred M. and Eva Edmonds Sweaney, was a life-long resident of Prague. She graduated from the Centerview School in 1942. She married Dick Smith on May 18, 1942, in Okemah, Oklahoma. She worked for many years as a clerk at Drury''s 5 & 10 and was a member of View of the Cross Freewill Baptist Church. She also worked at the Prague School library and Action, Inc. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on February 28, 1987, and one sister. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Allyson Smith of Eufaula; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Coy Farmer of Prague; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Berton and Sue Perry of Okemah; brother-in-law, Edell Smith of Prague; grandchildren Terry Farmer of Prague, Peggy and Milford Jenkins of St. Joseph, MO, Kirk Smith of Oklahoma City, Matt Smith of Eufaula; great-grandchildren, Dallas Jenkins, and Madison Farmer. Memorials may be made to Faith Hospice of Seminole, 2407 W. Wrangler Blvd., Seminole, OK 74868. The Smith family will receive friends at Parks Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 10:00 AM, at the Prague Cemetery with Pastor Allen Wood officiating.
