Irene Coomer was born on December 31, 1926, in Bellmont, and departed this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2016, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Irene, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Pliva) Appl, was a lifelong resident of Prague. She married Kenneth Altus Coomer on February 5, 1944 in Garden Grove. Irene loved the Atlanta Braves as well as OU and OSU sports. She was a huge Thunder fan. Irene was an avid reader. Her favorite pastime was watching her great grandson Peyton motocross race. Irene and her husband Kenneth were known nationwide in the swine industry. They raised national champion purebred Berkshire and Spot hogs for close to 30 years. Her parents, husband, son Burlan Coomer, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Pam and Steve Pratka of Prague; grandchildrenTreasure and Jimmy Nash of Prague, Garrett and Cari Morelock of Piedmont, Lacy and Ryan Friend of Prague, and Cody and Kirsty Coomer of Yukon; seven great grandchildren including special great grandson Peyton Nash and many other family and friends. The Coomer family will receive friends on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:00 AM, at Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Prague with Rev. Charlie Clem and Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made to Garden Grove Cemetery Fund at 49895 Clemence Rd, Prague, OK 74864.
