Hugh Raymond “Ray” Carver, of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. Ray was born on June 21, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of the late Roy Glenn Carver and Bonnie (Smith) Raines. Ray grew up moving around the country, living in California, Kansas and Oklahoma. Ray married Mary Sue Bartlett in 1989 and the couple made their home in Prague. They were married for more than 34 years before Mary preceded Ray in death on June 29, 2024. Ray attended Connors State College and was a skilled welder by trade. Ray also proudly served his country with the United States Army Reserves, where he served as a cook and later a Drill Sargent. He learned to make a great pot of spaghetti sauce while in the Army but always made five gallons at a time.
Ray was great with his hands and enjoyed fixing and working on anything. He even had his own clock making business for a short time. Ray enjoyed the outdoors, he enjoyed bird hunting and going fishing. He enjoyed working his cattle and tending to his garden when he lived on Lake Road. He and Mary would regularly have their own fishing competitions. He enjoyed coin collecting and hosting big parties with Mary.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Roy Glenn Carver; two sons, Ryan Carver and Randy Carver; one grandchild and his stepbrother, Dean Raines.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Bonnie Raines; his daughters; Rhonda Cruz and her husband, Louie and Renee Hill and her husband, Clint; his stepson, Chuck Ingle and his wife, Pam; his stepdaughter, Mona Swaffar and her husband, Rusty; his sister, Sandy Mendenhall; step brother, Kenny Raines; stepsisters, June Raines and Darlene Cox and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
