Hubert Smith

August 3, 1934 — October 29, 2018

Hubert Ray Smith was born on August 3, 1934, in Paden, Oklahoma, and departed this life on October 29, 2018, in Prague, at the age of 84. Hubert, the son of Samuel Sylvester 'Vester' and Katie Ann (Cooper) Smith, was a resident of Prague. He was a Paden High School graduate and received his Bachelors degree from Oklahoma A & M, now known as Oklahoma State in 1955. After graduating, Hubert married Donna Jean Heinzig on June 24, 1955. He then went to work in Cleburn, TX for Lonestar Gas and then went to work for Western Company in Kermit, TX. He then transferred to Segraves, TX and moved to Woodward and then Enid. Hubert and Donna then decided to return home at which time they opened Hubert's Automotive and were the owners/operators of that business from 1964 to 1998, establishing a legacy of friendships and helping people with their automotive needs. Hubert and Donna bought the family farm in 1964, shortly after opening the automotive business, and have resided there ever since. Hubert was a longtime active member of Prague United Methodist Church. He worked hard and played hard. He was fun and competitive and enjoyed an opportunity to be a joker. Hubert was a sportsman and an avid outdoorsman. He rarely missed watching his grandkids play sports and traveled many miles to support their teams. Hubert enjoyed agriculture and watching his grandchildren show pigs and cattle. Hubert loved golf with a passion, playing and watching golf any time he had the chance. He was a genuinely kind and loving person. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bill, Barney, Herman, Glen and Herbert and twin great granddaughters, Grace and Mercy Denney. Survivors include Hubert's wife, Donna Jean (Heinzig) Smith of Prague; son, Donnal Ray and Janette Smith of Prague; daughter, Christyna Ann and Benny Jones of Shawnee; four grandchildren, Kyle and April Denney of Claremore, Scott and Miranda Smtih of Prague, Katie and Levi Clark of Edmond, Shelby and Laura Smith of Prague; six great grandchildren, Cooper Smith, Jolie Smith, Easton Smith, Rhett Denney, Kash Denney and Grayson Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. The Smith family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
