Howard Lee Brown

March 20, 1947 — October 6, 2021

Howard Lee Brown of Prague, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday October 6, 2021, at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, OK surrounded by his wife, sons, and preacher. Howard was a loving husband, father, and Pa. He lived a full life of hard work and adventures that acquired a list of lifelong friendships. Howard was born in Shawnee, OKon March 20, 1947, to William LeeRoy and Louella Fowler Brown. He attended high school at Prague Public Schools, graduating in 1965. He later attended college at Wilburton Community College in pursuit of a Veterinary Medicine Degree. He proudly served his country as a Specialist 4 in the U.S. Army Reserves during the years 1968-1972. He was a truck driver in the Division of Transportation assigned to the 95th Infantry Division. He was honorably discharged in August of 1972. After serving his country he came home to work the family farm until he passed it down to his son Howard Lee Brown II in July 2018. Howard had many accomplishments during his time on the farm including, the Farmer/Rancher Award, the Certificate of Agricultural Accomplishment, being elected as the President of the South-Central Katahdin Association for several years, being a board member of several different livestock associations such as the Katahdin Hair Sheep International and National Hampshire Swine Association. He also became an honorary member of South-Central Katahdin Association in June 2021. For several years he ran the Prague Swine Breeders, a local consignment sale, that became one of the biggest livestock sales in Oklahoma. He attended the Prague Freewill Baptist church with his wife. When Howard was not on the farm, he spent his time at various livestock sales/shows across the country, collecting coins and spending time with his family. According to his grandchildren he was a hardworking, ear biting, food stealing, game cheating (especially Canasta), ornery man who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. On March 29, 1968 Howard married the love of his life, LaVonne and they were blessed with 53 amazing years of love, laughter and adventures together with their family and friends. Howard was preceeded in death by his father, William LeeRoy Brown; mother, Louella Fowler Brown; sister and brother in law, Carletta and Harvey Moore and sister; Earline Mayes. Howard is survived by his wife LaVonne, his children; Howard Lee II and wife, Jennifer Brown of Prague, OK, Randall and wife Krendy Brown of Prague, OK, and his grandchildren; Kristian and husband Anthony Holloway of Stillwater, OK, Kamber Brown of Stillwater, OK, Tyler Brown and Riana Ramnarine of Carnegie, OK, Marine Lcpl Garrett Brown currently stationed at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina, Amanda Brown and Sergio Orduna of Weatherford, Ok, Blakelyn Brown and Brittany Harwell of Prague, OK and Anthony (Tony) Brown of Prague, OK along with a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation is Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Howard Brown will be Friday, October 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services – Prague, Oklahoma.
