Herman Doyle Tislow

July 7, 1921 — August 30, 2009

Doyle Tislow was born in Chandler, Oklahoma, on July 7, 1921, to Earl and Ollie (Bridge) Tislow. At the age of six, they moved to the family farm located three miles east of Chandler. He and his older brother Leonard were raised in that community which centered around the Stone Elementary School. They established life long friendships with the Bridge, Clarkson, Conner, Key and Leake families. Doyle attended Davenport High School. He married Nelda Faye Gardner on July 3, 1941. After living in Chandler for a short time, Doyle and Nelda moved to the north side of the family farm, utilizing horses for farming, as a tractor was not feasible. In a short time, they moved to the south side of the farm, in the house on Highway 66, where he was raised and they reside to this day. Doyle was employed primarily by the Kerr-McGee Corporation and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Though opportunities for promotion were offered, he declined since they always required him to leave the family farm. He retired from the Department of Transportation in 1982, and spent most his time maintaining the farm, a life long endeavor. Doyle was a member of the Davenport Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Chandler Southern Baptist Church. His parents and one brother preceded Doyle in death. Survivors include, wife Nelda of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Audine Tislow of Chandler, two granddaughters and spouses, Kristin and Ken Attebery of Oklahoma City, and Kelli and Jeremy Robbins of Chandler. Their pride and joy are three great grandsons, Conner Attebery, Kyle Robbins and Owen Attebery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to your charity of choice. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 2:00 PM, at the Chandler Southern Baptist Church in Chandler, with Rev. Keith Henley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
