Herman Dewayne Hinds

Herman Dewayne Hinds a.k.a. Possum (Poss) was born on April 13, 1940, in Prague, OK, to George A. and Grace Z. (Coleman) Hinds. Herman departed this life on October 12, 2018. He was born in an era and time when family and friends meant everything to you...survival, at times, depended on your neighbors and your survival skills. Hunting and fishing was Herman's passion in life...and later his passion was our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a passionate Christian. Herman loved to hear his new pastor at Burnett Mission Holiness Church, brother Terry Garner, preach his Sunday sermon! Herman never met a stranger and was a hero and beloved uncle to his sister and brothers children. He was very thankful and proud of his military service as a paratrooper with the 101st Army Airborne Division 66-68. Herman was a loving and caring person who will be dearly missed; God bless his soul. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Hinds; sister, Betty Brockman and brothers, John Hinds and Glen Hinds. Survivors include his nephew, Charlie Brockman of Moore; brother, Tom and wife, Sue Hinds of Paden; sister-in-law, Francis Hinds of Paden; nephews, Marlie Brockman of Midwest City, Kelly Hinds of Oklahoma City nieces, Johnette Vondy of Brush, CO, Tanya and husband Glen Harned of Brush, CO, Cleta Deal of Paden, Glenda Adams of Paden, Lana Logan of Prague; many grand nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 1:30PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Pastor Terry Garner officiating. Herman will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Shirley, at the Oakdale Cemetery in Paden, at a later date. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
