Helen Harriet DeHaven Brown, of Chandler Oklahoma, at 83 years old, went to be with Our Lord, on August 9, 2019. Memorial service will be 3pm, Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Chandler Evangelical Friends Church, 215 N. Blaine, Chandler, Oklahoma. Helen will be laid to rest in a Private Family Ceremony at Prague Cemetery, Prague, Oklahoma. Helen D. Brown was born September 10, 1935 in Winthrop, Iowa, to James Tryon DeHaven and Doris Knowles DeHaven. Graduated Valedictorian 1953 from High School in Winthrop, Iowa. Helen went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Education at the University of Dubuque, Class of 1957. Helen and Charles Edward Brown married on December 5, 1959, in Albuquerque, New Mexico where they met Roller Skating. Helen taught Elementary Education and then as the family moved from New Mexico to Texas, South Carolina, Ohio and California, Private Piano and Voice lessons from her home. Following the loss of Charlie, Helen relocated to Chandler, OK in 1992. Opening her home studio, Helen taught Piano and Voice for years to many beloved students. It was the highlight of her day when anyone of them would visit her and bring their fiancé or children to meet their “Piano Teacher”. Know that she cherished all of her Students and the Music and Love you shared with her. Helen Volunteered in the Community with Museum of Pioneer History, ABC Craft Festival and her Church, Directing the Choir for many years. Helen D. Brown is preceded in death by her: Parents, James Tryon DeHaven and Doris Knowles DeHaven; husband, Charles Edward Brown; brother, William Harry DeHaven; sister Dana Mae Sokol Endresen; and her son Christopher James Brown. Helen is survived by; son Stephen Charles Brown and wife Lori Brown of Chandler, OK; son Matthew Edward Brown and wife Karen Brown of White Plains, NY; grandson David Charles Brown of NY; granddaughter Keaghan Ruth Baade and husband Mason Baade of Stroud, OK; grandson Thomas Jack Welter II and wife Rachel Welter of Memphis, TN; grandson William Darius Brown and granddaughter Olena Elizabeth Brown both of Chandler, OK; daughter-in-law Robin Weed Brown of Southern California; other relatives and many friends.
