Harvey Bates D

Harvey Dial Bates was born on August 8, 1930, in Wilmington, West Virginia, and departed this life on Friday, May 29, 2009, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 78. Harvey, the son of Herbert and Betha (Adkins) Bates, was a resident of Prague. He married Betty Hamner on April 25, 1960. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2005. Harvey served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a metallurgist in the manufacturing industry. He owned and operated Bates Heat Treating in Oklahoma City until he sold it in 1976. His parents and one sister, Montella Ely, also preceded Harvey in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey Dial, Jr., and Cheri Bates of Cameron, TX, John Wayne and Lisa Bates of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Harvey Bates, III, Melissa Bates, Penny Bates, Matthew Bates, Jordan Bates, and Caleb Bates; brother, Herbert Bates, Jr. of Kentucky.
