Harold D. Porter life-long resident of Newalla, Oklahoma went home to our Lord and Saviour, July 31, 2008 after a long battle with renal disease. He was born in McLoud, Oklahoma on September 20, 1924 to Miranda Floydel Tucker Porter Hatfield. The only father he ever knew was William Henry Hatfield. His Mother and Father were commonly known throughout the area as Bill and Boots Hatfield. Harold attended school at White Rock. After completion of the ninth grade, he went to work helping build Tinker Air Force Base. He met and married his first wife, Elwanda F. Lee Porter on May 16, 1942. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II on the USS Sperry. Harold and Ellie enjoyed 60 years of marriage prior to her death in 2001. During those years, he was involved in breaking horses, racing stock cars, brought a houseboat all the way down the Mississippi River to the Gulf Coast, captained a Salmon Tender in Puget Sound, along with enjoying a small engine business. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and travel. After Ellie''s death he was blessed with a second love, Naydene Smits. They were united in marriage on December 14, 2002. They were able to enjoy travel throughout the U.S. Harold was preceded in death by his Mother, Father, First Wife, and Step-brother, Billy Lee Hatfield. He is survived by his beloved wife, Naydene of the home. He is also survived by three daughters - Phoebe and husband, Kenneth Tramel of Denison, Texas; Patricia and husband, Clifford Geissler of Harrah, Oklahoma; Pamela and husband, Robert Shirk of Newalla, Oklahoma; three step-children - Bradley and Tammy Smits of Greenbay, Wisconsin; Michelle and Skip Nielsen of Belvidere, Illinois; and Sean Smits, Greenbay, Wisconsin; Grandchildren - Tim and Iralene Tramel of Grove, Oklahoma; Terry Don and Terri Lynn Green of Fallbrook, California; Toni and Steve Halferty of Harrah, Oklahoma; Kyle Geissler of Harrah, Oklahoma; Kari and Russell Teel of Harrah, Oklahoma; Daniel Shirk of Harrah, Oklahoma; Step-Grandchildren - Kristine and Jonathan Rose of St. Charles, Missouri; Brandon and Alicia Smits of Greenbay, Wisconsin; Alex Smits of Greenbay, Wisconsin; Tonya Smits of Greenbay, Wisconsin; Nicholas Nielsen of Belvidere, Illinois; Melinda Nielsen of Belvidere Illinois; Galen Smits of Greenbay, Wisconsin; Arlyce Smits of Greenbay, Wisconsin; Alex VanCampenhout of Greenbay, Wisconsin; 10 Great-Grandchildren; 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren along with a host of friends. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK with Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
