Harley Lavon Coomer was born on March 11, 1929, in Prague, and departed this life on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 88. Lavon, the son of Henry Harris and Ethel Pearl (Lowe) Coomer, was a resident of Prague. He was a 1947 graduate of Centerview High School. Lavon married Louise Watkins on August 29, 1950 at the home of Dwight and LaVerne Montgomery, in Garden Grove. Lavon was employed at Shawnee Milling Company for 22 years, retiring in 1991. He also served as a deacon at Prague First Baptist Church for many years. Lavon’s parents; brothers, Kenneth Coomer and Hershel Coomer; twin sister, LaVerne Montgomery and grandson, Ron Reno preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Louise Coomer; daughters and sons-in-law, LaDona and Kenneth Johnson and Cynthia Coomer and Jeff Castleman; brother-in-law, Dwight Montgomery; sister-in-law, JoAnn Coomer; grandchildren, Velvet Smith, David and Monica Johnson and Kelly Reno; great grandchildren, Kennedy Gregory, Mallori Reno, Tanner Gregory, Harley Johnson, Hailey Johnson and Maylee Reno and many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons and Rev. Kevin Wehrli officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
